Dr Hemraj Kaushik observes, “Stories are
expression of social, philosophical and psychological anxieties of man in
totality. Right choice of themes and judicious arguments, and appropriate and
effective expressions exhibit enormous control, discipline and patience in
creation of short fiction and that is art of story writing of Prem. Stories reveal truth of life and depict it
from varied aspects in realistic forms of lexis. The story writer in him,
without being conscious of it, safeguards human sensibilities and tender
sentiments, which purify soul and elevate man. To me it appears the strength
and beauty of story writing. It is good that the stories lack inessential
emotional excitement and overstatement. Engaging stories are about human
relationship, intensity and values in contemporary context and here man lives,
breathes and tries to make life objective where current realistic outlook on
life is perceptible and touches emotional landscape and inspires man to make
life meaningful.”
